Abstract

This text intends to analyze two pathways to the world and to reality, based on The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa and regardless of any conceptual or philosophical system: the negation of the action and the literature of disquiet. Both stances cause, in the Portuguese poet's thought, a deep rejection of modernity and contemporaneity as to how men have to be and act framed within a type of pragmatic and productive thought. Therefore, and in opposition to the aforementioned, Pessoa proposes the literature of disquiet as a creating and aesthetic action that allows men to be open to the world from their imagination, dreams, art, poetry, literacy, and creating action.
