The simple life is a concrete way to deal with the effects of social rapidation, the mercantilist ends of informational capitalism, and the exaltation of consumption to the detriment of caring for the existence of the human being. The call of Pope Francis, in the Encyclical Laudato Si', far from being an invitation only addressed to the Catholic Church, is, first, a call to humanity so that, from the personal as well as an institutional point of view, the necessary actions are carried out that make possible, in all its sense, the care of life in the common home. This is how the simple life is legitimized as a valid proposal today, especially because the person from this lifestyle can enjoy the essential without obsessing about overconsumption.
