Abstract

From an epistemic reading of Kant’s aesthetics, it is suggested that the form reflected in the judgment of taste corresponds, in reality, to the spatio-temporal form expounded by the philosopher in the transcendental Aesthetics. This would be possible given that in the judgment of beauty the transcendental imagination is free to schematize without concept in an essentially para-epistemic operation. If the transcendental function of Kantian aesthetics has as its foundation the free play between imagination and understanding, with respect to one knowledge, says the doctrine, “in general”, then the key piece of this “harmony” seems to be the transcendental concomitance between formal intuitions and the non-predicative form of aesthetic particulars.
