Abstract

Social anthropological studies about youth, consumption, and social classes constitute a necessary research field. This article explores how these components articulate. From this perspective, it analyzes the elements that a group of young Social Anthropology students from the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia (ENAH) identifies as material and symbolic expressions of their surrounding social classes. It also studies their own and other students’ consumption practices to understand the importance they assign to consumption in the social integration processes of university life.
