Guidelines for Authors

The Center for Studies in Sciences and Humanities presents the terms of reference for the call for papers for the Revista Ciencias y Humanidades (ISSN 2500-784X Web), a biannual publication (January-June / July-December). This call is aimed at professionals in the social and human sciences with an interest in publishing the results of their academic work.

Types of Texts

The Revista Ciencias y Humanidades accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Scientific and Technological Research Articles
    Documents presenting the original results of research projects. The commonly used structure contains four main sections: introduction, methodology, results, and conclusions. These should have a minimum length of 6,000 words and a maximum of 12,000; a single-paragraph abstract (maximum 250 words), and keywords.

  • Book Reviews
    Reviews of books in the social and human sciences, with a publication date no older than five years. These should have a maximum length of five pages. Reviews must include a critical component and contextualize the work.

  • Translation
    Translations of classical or contemporary texts, or transcriptions of historical documents or materials of particular interest in the domain of the journal. For translations of contemporary texts, permission for reproduction must be obtained.

  • Paleographic Transcriptions
    Transcriptions of old documents. They must have a minimum length of 6,000 words and a maximum of 11,000, along with a single-paragraph abstract (maximum 250 words).

Basic Submission Criteria

Before submitting their proposals, authors must ensure their manuscripts meet the following criteria:

  • The text is unpublished, meaning it has not been previously published and is not currently under evaluation elsewhere.
  • The file is in DOC format, with 17×23 cm page size and 2 cm margins.
  • The text uses Times New Roman font, size 11, with single spacing.
  • The manuscript is written in the third person.
  • The document demonstrates appropriate use of academic language.
  • The document avoids redundancy and shows progression in the argumentation.
  • All sections of the text have a solid and reasoned composition.
  • The proposal fully complies with the Publication and Citation Parameters of the Revista Ciencias y Humanidades.
  • As per the previous point, the manuscript does not include in-text citations, and all referenced information is provided in footnotes.
  • The authors' names do not appear within the text, following the required anonymity for double-blind peer review.
  • The research meets the ethical and transparency criteria outlined in the Editorial Policies.
  • The Commitment Declaration and Authorship Certification is properly filled out and available to be submitted along with the manuscript.
  • If applicable, a separate document with figures or tables used in the manuscript is finalized and available to be submitted.

Evaluation Process

Proposals will undergo a peer-review process (double-blind), where the following aspects will be assessed:

  • Quality of the Article: Clarity, appropriateness of the methodology (conceptual and methodological rigor), optimal use of the article’s sections (abstract, introduction, problem statement, development, conclusions, references), solid research process, coherence.
  • Contribution to Knowledge: Relevance in the field of study, feedback in the epistemic field, pertinence.
  • Author Contributions: Clear, critical, and differentiated contributions from other texts, relevance in the field of study.
  • Bibliographic Management: Guarantee against plagiarism, current bibliographic sources, relevance of the research sources.
