The objective of this article is to critically and reflectively analyze the structural inequalities that the preponderant economic system has deepened rather than fought between men and women in a context before and after a pandemic. This text seeks to demystify the economic views focused on exclusively measuring the indicators purely economic as a standardized growth formula, without including in their calculations the formal recognition of the contributions that female labor makes to contribute to the sustainability not only of the economy but also of life. In addition, this study aims to make visible the role that Latin American women are playing to face and reduce the impacts that the pandemic generated by COVID-19 has produced in the region. The analysis presented below is an adaptation of the author’s PhD research. For its construction, it was carried out a documentary review regarding various reports that study different variables of socioeconomic impact disaggregated by sex, before and after the health emergency, to perform a comparative analysis of the female role in contexts considered “normal” and “of crisis”, as well as highlighting the existing gender inequalities in both situations critically. Likewise, Vol. XI, No. 11 Revista Ciencias y Humanidades Julio-diciembre 2020 various bibliographic resources of specialized studies on the subject were examined, and, collectively, it was executed a review of some hemerographic resources, since these resources have the latest news, given the current context, as well as the review of web sites of international organizations and civil society organizations specialized on this matter.
