Abstract

The next document wants to integrate a reflection about normalized significances that specific concepts acquire when they are introduced in the school. In this case, the text is based on the investigation project “Teaching and gender equality: a look from everyday life”, who has its beginning in 2006 and that nowadays continues creating knowledge from the schools of Luján city, a province of Argentina. We wanted to unveil the implicit and explicit meaning of the word “containment” within the context of the schools where the field work is been developed.

After being returned as a practice of control and discipline on psychiatric hospitals or hospitals where addictions are treated, we talk about “containment” as a shelter element in scholar environment. Some investigation groups or experts that have been consulted, understand that in the Argentinian scholar environment, containment has never been understood as a suffocation therapy of diseases and addictions. However they tend to recognize that it could be related with body discipline and the attitudes of the students at the school.
