This interview, conducted by the German writer Hans Magnus Enzensberger with Herbert Marcuse, appeared in the German magazine Kursbuch (1970, No. 22), under the title "USA: Organisationsfrage und revolutionäres Subjekt. Fragen an Herbert Marcuse." The present translation is based on the interview translated into English by Mark Goldberg, which, according to Douglas Kellner, was intended to be published in University Review, although it was never published there. It first appeared in English under the title "USA: Questions of Organization and the Revolutionary Subject" in The New Left and the 1960s. Collected Papers of Herbert Marcuse, Volume Three, edited by Douglas Kellner.
