This article enables the understanding of Estanislao Zuleta's thoughts on democracy and Human Rights in Colombia, focusing on the difficult historical context between 1981 and 1990, on Zuleta's critical debate towards Marx on the subject, and on the contribution that the teacher made from the institutions of the Colombian State. It is expected to investigate the conception that Estanislao Zuleta had regarding democracy and Human Rights in such a violent historical context and to expose the solutions he proposed for living in a country with greater democracy and equal conditions. Finally, the importance and timeliness of the teacher's ideas will be explained in the Colombian historical context and briefly in some parts of the world.
