Art from Latin America (and Other Global Pulses) by Gerardo Mosquera (CÁTEDRA, 2020), historian, writer, curator, and independent art critic based around the world, but especially in Madrid and Havana, presents a collection of essays in Spanish that introduce the reader to his artistic, philosophical, aesthetic, and political thinking in relation to the current state of art.
For the first time, the author compiles his essays (interviews, lectures, papers, articles in specialized journals) into a single volume, and through them, he offers a journey through his thought and methodology, always keeping in mind his "double vision" as both an art critic and an exhibition curator. His goal is to present the current art scene in Latin America, the state of the art market, and cultural circuits, while always considering the imprint of a colonial past, which is seeking to push beyond the imposed boundaries of so-called postmodernity.
